Capilano Tennis Club, the southeast Edmonton community tennis program affiliated with the Capilano Community League at 10810 54 St. will be starting a minor tennis league this summer.

Minor Tennis League is intended for kids from ages 7 through mid-teens, broken into three groups:

1. Tyke (Ages 7 to 9 years)

2. Pee Wee (ages 10 to 12 years)

3. Bantam (ages 13 and up)

All three divisions will use a team tennis approach. Teams are comprised of between 4 and 8 players, and matches will include warm-up and learning exercises as well as competition. The season will be eight weeks, starting in early July, and matches will normally be scheduled on Friday evenings. The number of teams and a decision as to which divisions will be run in this first year will be dependent upon registration numbers.

Registration may be done by email or in person, and cost will be $50 to $70 per player. The club will provide mini-nets, balls, racquets and team pinnies as well as professional leadership, but parents will be encouraged to assist.

The Capilano Tennis Club is also offering summer camp programs in progressive tennis and will host a Rogers Rookie Tour tournament on Saturday July 28.
